Privacy Policy

Effective 15 October 2026

Lex Professional Development Group Inc. respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to all of our services and websites, including NCA Tutor, LexPD, OntarioBarExam.com and ParalegalExam.ca. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Who we are

Lex Professional Development Group Inc. is a corporation incorporated in Ontario, Canada, operating as NCA Tutor, LexPD, OntarioBarExam.com and ParalegalExam.ca. We provide tutoring, preparation courses, study materials and online practice examinations. For any privacy question or request, including a request to access, correct or delete your information, contact us at info@paralegalexam.ca.

What we collect

We collect only what our services actually need:

  • Contact and account information: your name and email address, and any details you give us when enquiring about tutoring or courses. For the practice exam platform, sign-in uses Google or a one-time email link: we never receive or store a password.
  • Purchase information: the order number, the name and email used at checkout, and which products or services you bought. For purchases made at our own checkout we also keep the billing country, province and postal code, the country of the phone number you give, and the card's brand, last four digits and country. We use these to charge the right sales tax and to issue your receipt. We never see or store your full card number, its expiry date or its security code; payments are handled by our payment providers.
  • Practice exam activity: your answers, scores, timing, pauses, flagged questions and reports, so we can grade your attempt and show your progress over time.
  • Technical and security information: your IP address, browser type and sign-in times. We use these to keep accounts secure and to detect account sharing, which our terms prohibit.
  • Correspondence: messages you send us, including any accommodation request.
  • Advertising click information: when you arrive at ontariobarexam.com or paralegalexam.ca from one of our ads, the link carries a click identifier (for example Google's "gclid") and campaign tags. We keep these in a cookie on our own site for 90 days and, if you later sign in, buy, finish a free quiz or apply to a cohort, we record which ad brought you. This tells us which ads work. It contains no name, email or exam information.

We do not sell personal information and we do not build advertising profiles. The only advertising information we keep is the click identifier described above, and the practice exam platform itself (the pages you use once signed in) loads no advertising or analytics scripts of any kind.

Why we use it

To provide the services and materials you purchased; to schedule and deliver tutoring and courses; to run and score your practice exams; to produce your performance reports; to compare your results against anonymous, aggregated averages of other candidates; to send you service emails (access instructions, reminders, results); to provide support; to protect our question bank and study materials from unauthorised sharing; and to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

About peer averages: practice exam reports show how your results compare with an average of other candidates. These comparisons are aggregated and anonymous. No report ever identifies another student, and we deliberately withhold comparisons until enough candidates have written an exam for the average to be meaningful and non-identifying.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us operate, and only as needed:

  • Supabase: database and sign-in for the practice exam platform. This data is stored on servers located in Canada.
  • Vercel: hosts the OntarioBarExam.com website and platform.
  • Wix: hosts our lexpd.ca website and operates the store and payment processing there.
  • Stripe: processes card payments made at our own checkout on OntarioBarExam.com and ParalegalExam.ca.
  • Google: Workspace email, and sign-in if you choose it.
  • Brevo: sends our service emails.
  • Google Ads: to measure our advertising, we report back to Google which of its ad clicks led to a purchase, a free quiz or a cohort application, with the time and, for a purchase, the amount before tax. We send Google the click identifier only: never your name, email, answers, scores or any report.

Some of these providers operate outside Canada, which means your information may be processed in another country and could be accessible to that country’s courts or authorities under its laws. We otherwise disclose personal information only where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, purchases, attempts and reports while your account is open, so that you can revisit your results, and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records and legal obligations. You may ask us to delete your account at any time (see below). Anonymised, aggregated statistics that cannot identify you may be retained so that peer averages remain accurate.

Who at LexPD can see your results

Our administrators can see your account, purchases and results in order to run the service and support you.

If you work with one of our tutors or coaches, we may give that person access to your results so they can help you prepare: your scores, your reports, and the questions you answered correctly and incorrectly. Tutors are given access only to the students they are working with, only to results (never to your purchases or payment details), and their access can be withdrawn at any time. If you would prefer that a tutor not see your results, tell us and we will remove that access.

How we protect it

Access is protected by sign-in, data is encrypted in transit, and our database enforces row-level rules so students can only reach their own records. Exam content and answers are subject to additional access restrictions. No system is perfect, but we take security seriously and limit staff access to what the role genuinely requires.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA you may ask us to: provide a copy of the personal information we hold about you; correct anything inaccurate; delete your account and personal information; or withdraw your consent to non-essential communications. Email info@paralegalexam.ca and we will respond within 30 days.

Some emails are essential to the service (for example, your access instructions after purchase) and cannot be turned off while your account is active. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

When we write to index buyers about the practice exams, the email carries a one-click link to stop those emails. We keep the addresses that ask on a list of our own and check it before any such email goes out.

To stop us recording which ad brought you, clear your cookies for our site; nothing else about your account changes.

Cookies

We use the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to keep our services secure. If you reach our public pages from one of our ads, we also set one first-party cookie that remembers the ad click for up to 90 days, so that a later purchase, free quiz or cohort application can be credited to the right ad. It holds the click identifier and campaign tags only, nothing about you. We do not use cross-site tracking cookies, and the signed-in practice exam platform sets no advertising cookies at all.

Children

Our services are intended for candidates preparing for professional licensing examinations and are not directed at children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify you by email.
