Paralegal Licensing Exam (P1) pacer

The P1 gives you 160 questions and four and a half hours, which is about a minute and forty seconds each. Nobody can keep that sum running in their head for a whole exam. Print this chart, glance at the clock, and you know at once whether you are ahead or behind.

How to get the most from it

  • Look at the chart at the end of a section, or once every fifteen questions or so. Checking after every question costs time and raises your pulse for nothing.
  • Print it and keep it beside you for every mock exam. By exam day a glance should be a habit, and you should already know whether you tend to start slow or finish slow.
  • Behind by five questions? Win them back a little at a time over the next forty. Sprinting through the next ten is how easy marks get thrown away.
  • The quickest time saving is looking things up less. Read the question properly, answer from what you know where you can, and open the materials only when you have to.
  • Pick an answer before you move on, every time, even if you flag the question to come back to. A blank earns nothing, and the clock may not let you return.

To see where your own time goes, our full-length mock exams time every answer and chart your pace across the paper. The study planner covers the weeks before.
